I used to have to drive 20 miles to a small airport to buy 100LL to feed my high compression 1972 Chevellee SS 454. I had 4 - 5gal jugs. It wasn't cheap. I upgraded the engine to a modern ZZ502 so it runs pump gas and gets about 30% better fuel mileage.

I still like to run real gas in my other toys and small gas engines. It isn't destructive and doesn't break down so quickly like ethanol gas, in case I haven't used something in 2 or more years. I found a local source last year - and it's on Yukon's list.

It was expensive. I had to blow up my 454 first (probably ethanol fuel involved - I mixed the 100LL with pump gas to stretch it out) and that led me to the ZZ502 500HP on pump gas/10MPG upgrade. No regrets since. I haven't been back to that airport since 100LL was $3.20/gallon.
