That sounds awesome until you realize CD sales are almost non-existent these days.

I'll buy a CD if I know it's rare and you won't find it in abundance online.

Trivial Pursuit question: On average, approximately how many groves does a 33 1/3 vinyl LP album have?

I have hundreds of lbs of LP’s that I haven’t listened to in prob 10 years. There’s fun and “magic” with vinyl, but the non-linearity of the elliptical movement of the cartridge on usual tone arm turntable is not at all “hifi.” Linear track exists, but at what cost… I have CD’s of albums I can’t find on streaming.

You willing to part with any of it?

Not yet I suppose. Serves as nice ballast for the bookshelves I have. Even if I don’t spin them again, the nostalgia is enough. Discovering Eddie Money, having Eno’s Music for Airports. Great classical music, and the opera 33’s I’d play for girls back in college days…

Edit: Madam Butterfly selected songs on an LP were beautiful

Edit again: Bought most for 50c, and they all have memories attached. On a whim or purpose. I have a very good copy of Elvis Costello Armed Forces, which is the only time I’ve heard an LP sound better than CD

I have a few LPs like this. I think the audio equipment plays into it also.
