Thanks, excellent read. I want to point out that the same is true of humans. It's not a tree but more like a mesh with a lot of interbreeding. Also, we tend to think of humans as unique, but convergent evolution can be quite common. It's not out of the realm of possibility that we aren't the first humans to exist. There could have been humans dozens of millions of years ago, who evolved into monkeys and back into humanoid shapes. Monkeys could have evolved from humans. When the conditions are right, bipedal locomotion is favored, and evolution gets rid of the fur to help stay cool. Under evolutionary pressure this can happen quite fast in both directions, within a few million years.
