Oh... It's pretty much an island of inebriated debauchery. As near as I can tell, pretty much the entire island is used as a place for people to go get excessively trashed - every single day of the year. I don't know what the tourist to resident ratio is, but I suspect there's more tourists (all of whom are shitfaced) than there are residents. The social classes differ some. It's for the excessively wealthy to have play time - and a place where people who can afford a week off. It spans those social classes and it's pretty much like living in the US-typical spring break city, except it's spring break every day of the year.
