You can actually do this and I've seen videos in action. This picture is obviously fake though - size of yard, circumference of pole vs path the mower is taking, the corner of the step that would have chewed up the mower on the last pass around.

Why? Why would someone stage this specific picture? This took at least a good 30 minutes out of someone's day and for what?

...and did you notice that mower? It has no safety mechanisms! No self propel lever, no cut off lever. I don't actually see a self propel drive mechanism. This is totally a CNN photo.

Your right, that thing can't move on its own. I'm not sure if that makes me angrier or if I'm starting to be entertained by the level of trolling this represents.
