The tipping point is already accelerating. Between Valve/Steam spending the better part of a decade making gaming on Linux more or less "just work". The ease of installation for distros like Linux Mint, with all the built in drivers already working on-install, compatibility with random printers/scanners/etc... Microsoft killing support for windows 10 while saying your computer is too crappy for windows 11 and won't even let you install it without workarounds thus turning all older computers into e-waste (unless you install Linux on it).
Yeah. They did this to themselves. Maybe its intentional. Maybe they don't want to be in the OS business anymore.
