Sam thing happens with video games it seems
I don't know, it depends on the person. Part of what got me more interested in tech was wanting to mod games and host my own game servers. I started running Linux servers at home when some kids were still learning their multiplication tables. It can go either way.
I'd argue the opposite, as games are by design interactive. Sure there's some Cocomelon-level slop out there, but at the opposite end games can help you train problem solving, spatial reasoning, reaction times, pattern recognition, short and long term memory, resource planning, calmness under pressure, teamwork, leadership, among many other skills.
I'm not at all saying that games are better than the real thing, but I'm sick of the tired cliche "vidya gaems rot yuor brain!!!1!" while they mindlessly binge the latest Netflix series.
