You've been able to plug most devices in for years and get a USB drive. That's the joke, no special programs needed.

KDE connect is for people who can't USB.

Well that and you can reply to messages, find your phone, remote control both ways, execute custom scripts, share clipboard content, one click file share, sshfs, power point remote, etc....

But yeah it's just for "people who can't USB"; was the name windowsbird taken?

I can reply to SMS already on my computer. I can share files by dumping them into a shared nextcloud instance which is shared across every device I own and even my work computers via web interfaces. I don't really see much of a use for the other stuff, there's nothing I need to do on the phone that the laptop won't do easier, quicker, and on a bigger screen. Guess I'm not living the tiktok dream like you.

But appy app appers have to app their phones with apps, only luddites use the phone itself. rite?

This reminds me of when that dead faggot Steve Jobs walked around on stage holding the first gen iPad and told the audience that "you can put any picture you want as the background of your home screen on the iPad". I burst into laughter when he said that because putting desktop wallpaper had been a thing for about 30 years at that point when (((Apple))) decided it was a revolutionary new feature that only they could bring to life. What a fucking farce!

Yeah, Apple has done a lot of things that they tout as being revolutionary, but it's more just "we did it with THIS type of device."

I will say that regardless of what else you think of them, Apple has done a good job integrating their online sync services across devices. It seems to be very power and bandwidth friendly while being opportunistic at the same time.

Silly for sure.

Most people are using a free backup program like Google photo or whatever the fuck apple calls their shit. Really hard to enter that url.

I'm confused. Can't you do this already? Plug in the device via USB, allow file access and then navigate through phone drive. VOILA
