Because they still get to keep 85%? Which is still less than Steam, GOG, Google and Apple. The only mainstream digital marketplace I know of that takes less is the Epic store, which is taking 12% in an attempt to undercut Steam.

The problem is the number of users of the Microsoft Store is very low. It's so low that they cancelled the Business/Education Microsoft Store and are phasing it out. Their "store" was poorly implemented.
