The US produces all the sweet crude it uses. That is the grade of crude that is best for peoducing gassoline. All of the crude, and refining is done domestically and you are still paying $4-$5 per gallon, while other oil priducing countries like Iraq are charging pennies.
With a jewed government it does not matter if the oil is pumped or not, the Canadian people would not benefit.
The removal of the ban on export of oil from the USA has resulted in the increase in price.
Prices are set to whatever the market can bear. They engineer in price swings because it is a psychological trick that makes people accept faster price inflation.
The problem is we don't have real competition, and the government is too corrupt to go after price fixing and collusion.
