You're right, they do shift the goalposts. Getting 5-6% of the total vote also shows other potential supporters that this is a growing and viable party. If they did steal their votes and undercounted and played shenanigans it'll send a them into a panic knowing that close to 10% of the people don't buy their bullshit and its only growing. No matter how much they call PPC a fringe or racist or anything else they won't be able to counter the actual facts on the ground.
