No, EEG's are not used to determine brain death because an isoelectric eeg could be inaccurate. Brain death is determined now days through exams such as transcranial doppler, apnea testing; CT scan to assess blood flow in the brain.
People that work in organ donation look for signs of life, not signs of death. No one wants to be involved in the demise of a patient for the purposes of organ donation.
Organ donation is one of the touchy subjects that scares people because they hear stuff like what's in this video. Organ donation does save lives but, at what cost? My issue with it is not only the determination of brain death or removal of cardiac life support but the fact that families give organs to people that need them. Hospitals, big pharma and organ donation agencies make millions of dollars on those donated organs.
Give that money to the families if you're going to donate.
