Work in the medical field for even a small while and you will discover that HIPAA is pretty meaningless to protect you. They put on a good show to make you feel like you are protected from unauthorized use of your medical data, but there is a lot of data sharing between healthcare providers and government agencies/NGOs. Even if they anonymize the data they share, all it takes is a few other public data sources to match people up to their health data. The more health issues you have, the easier it is to pinpoint you in anonymous data.
The government wants you dead, your kids groomed and raped and your race eliminated. Why on Earth would you think HIPAA is on your side?
I'm familiar with the intent of HIPAA, but not with the practice. I haven't seen a local doctor in 20 years, and the last time I was hospitalized was 1980. No annual checkups, no nothing.
