I think it's more likely that putt is unhinged because he had to deal with the DDoS the last days and go through resumes. When he made the global sticky asking to hire people he said the DDoS took a toll on him.
Fixing code under time pressure, seeing something you build and care for attacked and turned unusable along with being sleep deprived the whole time could easily explain an overreaction.
