The number is small, maybe 1500, that actively engaged in the site by posting, commenting, and voting. There was definitely more than that using voat as a news aggregate, especially right before it was killed.
Perhaps it was those who disliked freedom of speech that killed Voat. I don’t see Facebook or Twitter being taken down due to calls for violence.
