They taught me BEDMAS (brackets, exponents, Division, Multiplication, Addition, Subtraction). My kid came home with some math work 6 or 7 years ago and they were calling it something else. I suspect for her kids, they'll call it something different again.

Probably to try and get kids used to seeing PED so "Pedophile" doesn't scare them as much when they see the word.
