The Russian czars (Who kicked out the Jews) monopolized vodka production in Russia for about 300 years maybe, and it’s not even Russian in origin. It comes from one of their western neighbors. It could only be produced on one of the kings stills and could only be sold at one of the kings bars. It was a wise fiscal move, I think for some decades alcohol sales made up 100% of government revenue (no taxes).

Entering World War I the czar put a prohibition on the sales of alcohol to increase productivity, blah blah blah. That prohibition remained in effect when the Jews took over. Lennon kept the prohibition if I recall, and finally Stalin rolled it back.
