Blocking someone on the platform permits them from messaging the user, commenting on their posts, or even viewing their content. Muting someone, meanwhile, has no bearing on their ability to view or comment on content and merely prevents the person muting them from seeing the muted user's posts.

Doesn't sound like a loss of freedom to me. You'll still be able to mute people which does exactly what blocking does on most sites. Twitters current block feature restricts the freedom of the blocked person. It allows left wing retards with block lists to spew their propaganda unchallenged.
