Yes I was tired and apparently missed a line in your post. I don't know where you get the impression I think NPCs are worthless though. I see them as mentally ill. They lack agency just like a paralyzed person lacks mobility. I'm not going to pretend a quadriplegic is going to get up out of his wheelchair just because I made a good argument for it. That is not "the same behavior" as someone who runs around with a sledgehammer trying to cripple as many people as possible so he can wheel them around where he wants them to go, until he gets bored and rolls them in front of a bus.
