It was OK to be isolationist 100 years ago when Atlantic and Pacific were big enough. But it's good to keep your enemies far away. In 2022 Putin will take Ukraine, in 2027 Xi will take Taiwan and in 2035 there will be Chinese naval base in queer Vancouver. Are you going to be isolationist then?

Yeah, that's what Putin is bitching about. Doesn't want American missiles on his front porch. Easier to stop something before it happens than have to try and clean up someone else's mess.
I agree, but instead of spreading Russian influence over Europe by "soft power", like "mostly" US did, he just attacked the closest people to Russians out there - Ukranians. If you have a neighbor who is saying he wants your house and your dog, so you buy a gun, then the guy just shows up while you sleep and still kills you. That's Putin. Ukraine wants to go to NATO cause Putin wants Ukraine.
