The NRA does have the solution for school shooters. Train and armed everyone that is willing to actually protect children. There are several states that have armed teachers with zero shootings. The coward punks that would shot children KNOW where the armed adults are and do not go there.
Those who think arming teachers is a good idea have never never seen them try to operate an overhead projector.

This is true. But it could play out like the nuclear arms race. Mutual assured destruction. So even the perception of having an armed teacher makes the classroom no longer a soft target.
Hire better teachers.
