I can't think of any good reason to have alts other than having a public alt and a private alt. Only reason to have this kind of setup is if you're some sort of actual celebrity.
Finding out I've been genuinely interacting with a "fake" person with several alts, all of which are used to portray a different persona, would seriously piss me off. Nobody likes being fooled.
It's a sign of some sort of mental illness or derangement, not much different than being a tranny.
I disagree on the multiple Alts issue. I keep changing Alts because I don't take notes of my passwords and I don't give my email address for backup. Nevertheless, I don't have multiple personas and I don't mind sharing the names of the Alts I used I can remember.
I guess it's not a big deal really if the alt owner is up front with the fact.
But, being such the anti-alt guy I am, my account age says 4 years; but the first year of that membership was all lurking in the shadows because I couldn't remember the password yet refused to make another account. The admin could probably vouch for that statement.
