Seeing these posts as often as I do, I have to wonder if the bottles are legitimately hard to open either by coincidence and poor design, or if the soylent company intentionally overtightens them just to troll their customers.

I wondered the same, and I actually remember this post (or at least similar) making the rounds when I was still over at McReddit.
The 'median' soys (those that weren't 100% soyboy, but still were trying to become one) claimed that the bottles were in fact slightly more difficult than a typical, similar styled, drink bottle - like one of those green juice ones.
But they're all faggots.

For some reason every once in a while, i get a sauce bottle from aldi that i have to get my big jawed oil filter wrench to get the cap off because those little tabs under the metal lid somehow bite deep into the plastic, and im a fucking mechanic and have never in my life needed anything to open anything like that. Warming cap, nope. Using all my might to the point my hands are going to pop or a few blood vessels in my little brain, nope. I cant imagine some older lady buying that shit and trying to have some fucking dinner and cant find the tactical nuke in her utensil drawer.
