I think even reddit can see that something is wrong. They just refuse to admit what actually is wrong.

It's hard to think you were the smart one and find out you were the sucker. Especially if you told everyone else how smart you were.

Mark Twain said something about how it's easier to fool a person than convince a person they've been fooled.

It's a very interesting concept. To convince someone they've been fooled you have to conquer their ego and present enough patterns in front of them that their brain forces them to accept.

You can conquer an ego if you "appeal to authority" but it has to be an authority that the person respects more than their own opinion. Very challenging stuff. This basically means in the context of covid that you would need to pull quotes and data authored by Fauci himself in order to deprogram someone under his spell.

To a fool a person is much easier. All you have to do is move their Overton window in your direction but convince the person this was their idea in the first place. You do this by acting out your self. You act shocked and say "I couldn't believe this but.." act like you're struggling to come to terms with whatever agenda you're pushing and if only you where smart enough you could figure out the answer. This appeals to someone's ego who will say "I am smart enough to answer your question and resolve this conflict." Now you've got em fooled.

For some, I don't think it's about them refusing to admit it, it's that they're afraid to admit it on reddit. I don't blame them, the place is a dystopian 1984 nightmare where saying the wrong thing gets you penalized. And their addiction to reddit outweighs them being honest with themselves.
