The colored belt system is dumb, but only as dumb as people make it. Some schools are pretty tough with testing and others essentially slide people along an assembly line.
The point of any female martial arts student should be breaking contact as brutally as possible. Also, while guns are usually better, women can be pretty deadly with knives, but being fast is very important in those situations.
