Why should you care? you may ask. Reddit, love or loathe, tends to reflect the larger hivemind thinking of the internet. If reddit is changing, then it means the winds are probably starting to blow differently. A year ago, comments like the ones found in this particular story would have been non-existent as the general userbase circle-jerked itself to death on virtues.
With the quarantine of discussion forums relating to long-term side effects, reddit's handlers know and are trying to prevent this change. But, as more people are injured by this stuff, it's going to be harder to contain.

Putting words into user's mouths, which means making them appear like they wrote something they never actually did, especially on sensitive posts, is one of the greatest violations of user trust possible.
Although shortly after he applogized and promised never to do it again, it clearly gives away how Reddit tends to handle criticism.
