Why would you waste copious amounts of money on a shiny thing which is purely for ego kibbles to others? If one is insistent on that, it's a massive red flag that the woman is a gold digging whore. I'd rather that money be placed into something useful, like payments for the house we are sharing. My husband did it the right way - he actually forged our wedding rings himself. Much more meaningful for us.
