I don't think Greek mythology was just entertainment, but rather real history passed down in various forms. For example, the Trojan war was supposed to be just fiction, but somehow it was discovered that it was based on real facts and the city actually existed. Rand had a much younger associate of hers as a lover, and they both announced to her husband and his wife that their relationship was "official" and they had to accept it. He was inside the house every day, so just imagine the situation.
