Great intel.
It's useful to be a mod of certain subjects because you can catch what reddit admin is autmatically banning before it even gets to the mods. Any link from Big League Politics. Any link from Fifth Domain... a handful of others. It is really useful to stay apprised of what is being censored the most.
What %/# of reddit users do you think still come there to get informed about news/politics/opinion/happenings in the world around them? Haven't they driven off anyone with the ability to critically think by this point?
There are thousands still fighting the good fight. The shills are just more sophisticated at using the platform. Most people don't know anything about mod tools, which allows you to (even if not modding) to get stats on users with a mouseover. Reddit is pointless without Reddit Enhancement Suite on old.reddit.com as opposed to www.reddit.com. I think you can also "Opt out" of the redesign, but I doubt most people find that, right away.
One person who knows how to use reddit can drown out hundreds who are using just the app on their phone. Anyone using the app is just being force fed information. That is why I mostly use it as a tool to aggregate information for myself, then spread it to places like Poal, Twitter, (not Voat, so much, anymore, but that may change), etc.
That is one example of how I am able to stay on top of the news in realtively little time. By 6am EST, I can take a 10 to 15 minute look at the news landscape and know most of what is going on. I know what the shills are pushing on both sides of the aisle, along with what researchers are digging up. I have a lot more feeds than that single one, but that is one I go to unless I am trying to search stuff down.
My other feeds all pour into a database that make it easy to search when I need to do research. Collecting all the text allows me to bypass Google's censorship, essentially. I kind if keep them proprietary, though I drop links occasionally if I think someone will actually do some research. I try to track a lot of court records and primary source evidence that the news ignores, as well. The best research is done by people suing each other. It's important to watch that.
