The main issue is that GAB doesn't provide an anonymous way to pay that fee if you wanted to as mentioned in one of the comments in the threads.

I didn't threaten you or your family. I was willing to pay anonymously to stay on Gab. But you FORCE me, in your application process, to give you MY PERSONAL information. Why? How do you NOT see that killing anonymity is killing free speech? (gab.com)

Let me offer some clarity on what I meant by this post and what I did not mean by this post.

What I did not mean by this: free users who have been critical of our decision.

What I did mean by this: The people who are here for the sole purpose of destroying this platform. Both foreign and domestic operatives whose only objective is to drive people away from Gab and destroy, divide, and defame Gab/me by any means necessary. Their time here is up. I'm no longer paying to host people here who want my family and my business dead.

I sincerely apologize if you are a free user who thought this post was about you and I should have been more clear about who this was targeted at. As I mentioned in my latest podcast episode I've been dealing with thousands of accounts posting threats, doxes, and defamatory content aimed at both myself and my family which has me on edge and ready to go to war against the subversive trash I described above.

I mean there is nothing stopping him from organizing anonymous payments. This seems to me like controlled demolition of Gab, by Torba himself.

Or maybe he wants to get rid of all the high IQ noticers and make it a platform for cuckservatives who will pay because they don't want to appear as "socialists".

Anyway now is a perfect time to advertise Poal on there if you want to get more people onboard.

He blocked me even though I've never interacted with him, so I presume trying to promote Poal there would probably get you banned with the excuse that it's spam.

Let´s cut the BS and stop pretending this is about “server costs”. The (insert 3 letter agency) told GAB that they are going to steal the next election and will not allow free speech to stand in the way. For this they needed to enable the collection of personal data from anyone posting videos of election fraud or protesting over suspected election fraud. A user name and password does not give them this information, unless you are using it on other sites as well, giving them the chance to piece together who you are. They are still tracking down J6 patriots to punish them for mostly peaceful protesting. You don´t think they would come knocking on your door if you were posting evidence of election interference? Anonymous accounts have less cred so they can rant whatever they like, and it will be ignored or written off as conspiracy theories. This is why cleaning up old accounts or setting a self-delete time limit on large uploads is not on the table. It doesn´t give them your name and address.

This guy (FlyingEagle65) has explained it well enough for me. RIP Gab.

I'm not sure why they'd bother, putting it behind a paywall will drive people away more effectively than every troll in the JIDF could manage.
