people still use facebook?

You wouldn't believe how many still use it, and are addicted to it.

back in '11, is when i first started using it. it seemed cool at first and i liked the idea that i could find old friends. then i started reading about DARPA, and then I became aware of the JQ.... it didn't take me long to drop it like a bad habit. the problem is that there are people who you could drop facts and facts and facts on them, and they would STILL use it. of course, i cant say anything. i knew that smoking causes cancer and continued to smoke two packs a day for years.

DistroWatch that Facebook is no longer blocking links to their site.

Even if Facebook has fixed this, it’s yet another warning that we need to stop using centrally controlled social networks. You can follow DistroWatch via RSS, or Mastodon (federated). There is a new, distributed social network called that might take off.

I have a Nostr profile on satellite.earth, and post stuff regularly about old tech. I see a little traffic driven to my personal site when I make a post, but don't seem to get any traction otherwise. I hope it does take off, the mastodon/pleroma/misskey network(s) are riddled with block-happy admins.

I imagine that this had gone on for years, and for the first time, a Linux user found out.
