This only works because Canada is a communist country. In the US, being old or an invalid has valued added cost for doctors, lawyers, insurance companies, big pharma, medical supply companies. Keeping them alive is very profitable. The system is designed that someone will pay. The insurance company, the government, the average person, stolen money, etc.

I don’t know about the USA, but any country with tax payer funded healthcare is susceptible to this.
The problem is not allowing people to legally obtain assisted death. The problem is when you have that, plus a government that can remove healthcare funding from things like palliative care and mental health care. As the wait times for treatments grow assisted death becomes the only viable option for many people.
