omg that's a crap situation.
I'm not an insurance person or healthcare person, I just took a class on insurance in college. I have heard that hospitals can modify bills significantly if you go talk to them. but still healthcare costs are blamed for %65 of bankruptcy filings in the US.

I was terrified for awhile. While I’m not sure but it looks like US Military medical TriCare is going to pay for all of it. While I was off trying not to die for America, they generously have decided to pay the bill for my son. I still live in fear a bill will show up that I can’t afford to pay.
