Wow, that was so nice of you. Sounds like a wonderful feast. What a great treat that must have been for those Arizonans!

My aunt grew up in Maine and moved to AZ in the mid 1950s. She used to fly back for vacation every couple of years and it was a family tradition to sit down to a massive home cooked lobster feed at my grandmothers when she visited. After my grandmother moved into assisted living, we continued the tradition at my folks house. Later, after my Dad died, I continued the tradition at my Mom's house. We used every occasion as an excuse to have a lobster feed! Now that they have all passed on, I am brought back to those good memories every time I eat lobster.

I would need no excuse to have a 'lobster feed', hahaha, what a term! Such warm reminiscences you have. Lobster is, indeed, comfort food!

I forgot to mention the steamed little neck clams we had with the lobsters! We used to buy fresh dug clams for around $10/peck (1 peck = 1/4 bushel = 8 quarts = 2 gallons ≈ 14lbs) when I was a kid. Now they are closer to $6/lb. That $10 peck is $84 now.
