It’s really nothing tbh. When magazines were sold on newsstands, the date would often be well in advance of publication date so it looked fresh longer.
They still use that even though newsstands are mostly a thing of the past.

Wasn't aware of that.
It was usually two weeks to a month in advance on whatever day of the week they would officially release. If release day was the 2nd Tuesday of the month, all the magazines would be dated the 2nd Tuesday of the month, even though they were printed well before that.
