Unionization doesn't work. Once technology has made your job redundant, you're pretty much on the way out the door. These folks really would be doing themselves a favor by simply learning to code and parlaying their time as "media professionals" as they transition into being independent. They should use this time to network, form a guild, identify platforms they can publish content through and build up their own presence, brand, and identity.
