He kind of is. Catholics are an odd bunch. They worry more about what the 'church' says than what the bible or God says.
Not to offend anyone, but that is my experience. And I actually send one of my kids to a Catholic school. Good school, weird religion. (gambling bad, but make sure to volunteer for bingo night!...wtf these people)

We call them Cafeteria Catholics, where I'm from. That and "C&E" Catholics.
