Their ultimate authority was the scriptures, and they appointed church elders to rule, so not completely.

They had the best ultimate authority, what we have is the 'will of the people' which is subjective.

They did break free of the oppressive rule of England / monarchy.

The Puritans interpretation of the scriptures? No where in the bible does it teach that your faith comes from the bible alone.
