Yeah, I am not claiming to understand anything.
I wish I could, but understanding needs to be left to the Politicians.
This is a general place for God talk. This includes:
We are trying to get a small cadre of mods coming from multiple angles: from the deeply religious, to the agnostic to the outright atheistic.
All that we ask is if you post material which challenges the faith or commonly held ideas, that you do it respectfully and in a way that demonstrates genuine interest in the discussion. We won't tolerate low-effort spam from users who demonstrate no interest beside being inflammatory.
It isn't necessary that you be a Christian or that you keep it quiet here if you aren't. That's why we ought to talk. Just use a little social intelligence, and approach it all in good faith.
RULES:
(1) Don't be an ass. The category of ass is broad, but we think it's a matter of common sense. We will mod at our discretion. There's virtually nothing that will get you banned here except for violating the rules below consistently and egregiously.
(2) When it's possible, flair your post. We don't expect that the flairs will catch everything, so it isn't mandatory. Posts in this sub have to do with God, but that touches a lot of areas of life, and we approach God with different kinds of thinking. Sometimes you may want to discuss a shower thought, or something that has been troubling you. Other times, maybe you want to lay out a formal argument. Or, perhaps you just found an interesting video. For the sake of cleanliness, flair your post when possible. If you have a suggestion for a better flair system, or a new category, message a mod.
(3) Connect your post to the topic of God or spirituality. Even a song can cause you to have an experience of something higher. We don't rule out any kind of post, so long as you express why it is relevant by using the title or the description section of your post. We encourage a variety of content. If you had a powerful experience as a result of a piece of art or from a song, feel free to share it, but tell us why you think it's important. The same goes for all other categories of post.
(4) Don't spam.
(5) Remember that this is a message board and people here have lives. We strongly urge you to use some sense in debate, and don't let your points hinge on your debate partner watching a 3-hr long video in order to continue the conversation. By all means, include that material if you think it will benefit people, but if furthering the conversation depends on it, reconsider posting it if you cannot summarize the main points concisely and in your own words.
(6) Don't harass people. If you have a disagreement with someone, be mature. Comments should be productive, mostly. Any conversation can end badly; don't let it turn into harassing that person wherever you find them participating. Put another way: contain your disagreements. Don't let them spill over into other threads and poison every interaction you have with another user. We all argue sometimes. It's fine.
(7) Don't post a bunch of memes. They're welcomed here and there, but we expect some discretion to be used.
(8) Don't be a snowflake. Disagreement can test patience. Sometimes people can be harsh when it comes to touchy subjects like God. For the most part, be an adult and handle yourself. If someone says something that offends you, either engage with them, or move on. Atheists and theists co-existing is like cats living with dogs. It's fine.
Logos refers to the Word of God; it is associated with reason, justice, and discourse.
This sub meets at the intersection of the Christian faith and the culture war. We are interested in lectures, articles, and arguments amongst ourselves that focus on the Christian life of the West, identifying our enemies in this spiritual warfare, and growing in the depth of our understanding of God and the faith.
We welcome argument, with the caveat that it must be respectful, and involve some effort. The focus here is on the traditional Christian heritage of the West, in its philosophy, politics, and culture. If you post something about politics, for example, we only stipulate that you emphasize its spiritual significance. Find a way to make it relevant to the spiritual concern. Thus, we welcome news related to the church and current affairs, and more theological content, as long as it is relevant to Logos.
General philosophical discussion is welcomed. Arguments are encouraged, but low-effort spamming is not. This is not a board for atheists to spam their favorite videos. If you're interested in a conversation, that is what this place is for. Please post the most motivating, thought-provoking and important things you find to better equip us in this cultural and spiritual battle.
