Larian Studios always develop their games this way. They release the game, which is really just a beta, collect player feedback, make changes, then release it again. Never buy any of their games as soon as they come out. Always wait for the Definitive Edition. Although, if you did purchase early you get the "full" version as a free upgrade. Which is better than most developers these days.
