I was just using SMPlayer with MVP. Well the show I was watching in full screen had slightly jagged edges with deblocking on and I was using VDPAU on the video output and the hardware driver. It's supposed to be a really good quality decoder. Well I was in preferences and clicked the hardware decode drop down box and saw CrystalHD and I think it got installed with another program since I don't remember seeing it before. I then resumed and the show looked a lot better detailed and it wasn't jumpy from frame drops or anything. This is Broadcom's Crystal HD decoder and it works with both Intel "My chip and motherboard and on board graphics" and AMD.

I just figured if you don't have this option in your video player then maybe you can open your package installer and search and install it and check it out. It'll only take a minute and if you get better playback because you don't have a full fledged video card in your computer it might have better playback. I was reading this works even on Atom CPU's that are really low spec compared to my I5 quad Intel. Just a tip for anyone that is not happy with the quality of playback on your computer without a great video card and chip-set.
