"Kernel panic" is basically the same as BSOD... Renders your system unusable until a hard reboot. I've not had one in years, though. Typically happens due to faulty hardware.
A Third slice could be "avoiding them autofucking reboots for upgrades".
But yeah, there are a lot of other positive reasons for using a Linux based system as well. My top reason sounds counter-intuitive around my friends; I find it a lot more user friendly and straight forward to configure... In Windows™®√π÷׶, I always get lost in the GUI and never find my way around efficient enough...
