I currently use Gnome, but I’m already looking for a new desktop environment because they have ditched X11 support. I don’t know which DEs are planning to keep it. KDE are also a bunch of loonies who call people “nazis”.

Installing the software doesn’t mean you have to associate with the maintainers, but that kind of mental illness is going to lead to problems. Gnome is already struggling.

I want a desktop environment that supports X11 and is not maintained by mentally ill people. Am I asking too much?

Can't speak for how long, but Cinnamon will be on X11 for the foreseeable future.

That’s good. I was going to try some of the Mint distros. They’re still sane as far as I know.

Clem is a good dude, very level headed in his design. Not sure how I feel about Mint relying heavily on flatpak now, but the alternative is snaps so I understand his choice. Keeping a repo for Mint specifically is too much work for the resources he has.

Alternatively, I know KDE is nutty too, but they tend to make more sense in their design choices for their DE. Kinda hard to escape the looney troons now unless you wanna go straight command line

I’ve considered it.
