Well I copied the usb to dvd and it worked? So your saying it doesnt save windows files? And Im not talking about just booting from dvd. Im installing and wiping windows.

I think I understand now.

If you are installing Linux onto the PC you would lose your files on disk.

If you care, or can't decide if you care, about the content of the hard drive then back it up on another device. You could also change out the hard drive if you have an unused one.

Personally, I would not trust a Linux install dialog to help me save contents of a system I was going to install to if I was not 100% sure I understood how that was going to work. I have fucked up enough backups in my life, not looking to do it again.
