Ive been using Brave. Mint has an "software store" but for something like brave just follow the instructions on the website. Once installed. uBlock Origin is great for an ad-block.
If you get into it more, buy a raspberry pi (single board computer) and install Pi-Hole on it. Its network-level ad-block/tracker block. If you get that far it will require reconfiguring your network some so that would be a little more in-depth but not much if you have made it this far.
I second Brave with uBlock. You will be happy you made the plunge.

Unlike Windows, every time you update.. Its all of the updates. Not - update, reboot, update, reboot..etc...etc.
