I havent run an antivirus for years on windows with no problem at all. When I was into comps way back on xp and before I loved getting the red screen to fix it. I have always had multiple comps so it was no problem to fix it. But admitting I have been left behind now. When I could no longer control everything I just gave up.
Yeah, I don't run any "extra" anti-virus on the Windows dual boot system I have (its for gaming, windows is a game console). I do have network level scanning and stuff like that running though.
Im still running 7 now and will go no further thus the linux. I hope to put it on this comp. I bought two copies of xp pro the first day it came out. My son is in IT now because we had 3 comps and always played games and of course I was into deleting useless files in xp so had to reinstall often. We use to watch windows ME defragging like it was a game or something. He was like 6 maybe at the time.
Good stuff. I hope you enjoy Linux. It really is at a point that for the majority of people that don't need to run some specific software for business or something it basically just works. Even then, with WINE a lot of windows software works fine too.
