Wayland being the anything-goes-implement-it-however-you-like container for graphic stuffs, as I understand it, so yeah, xorg will likely remain around for quite some time, in fact with xwayland there's no objective reason as to why it would even disappear at any point in time, it's likely going to remain an option pretty much forever I think, with or without wayland
