If you are maintaining an extension, now is a good time to port. GNOME 45 uses standard JavaScript imports/exports, which requires all extensions to adapt.
It’s a major backwards incompatible change. Expect lots of extensions to stop working starting in Gnome 45. Any extension that is not actively maintained could be gone after that.
The only survivors will be extensions that get updated, and possibly extensions that are simple enough to not need any imports.
My system monitor top bar widget will probably die again.
