I just happened on a great video clip maker. It's called Losslesscut. I couldn't find it on the repository but I just downloaded it offline. /etc/LosslessCut-linux-x64/LosslessCut It's a really most basic install. I tried it in downloads and then moved the folder into etc folder. I then made a shortcut to the menu and the desktop. It's all self contained and you just use the exe file. I opened it and was impressed how quickly it opened and I used my mouse on the bar and the video scanned without hesitation unlike a lot of video editors where it drags a lot.
