The problem you see, with people who reached a high degree of technical specialization in one particular field, is that they dedicated their whole life studying one thing essentially, which of course tends to be detrimental to the rest, there are only 24h hours in a day, you just can't be everywhere you aren't ubiquitous, so of course there are tons of topics on which you're mostly clueless as a result, starting with politics.
